In December, we told you about a fantasy golf website where you can win big, playing fantasy golf for cash prizes. Pro Tour Fantasy Golf’s (PTFG) most popular game has been the season-long contest, the $25 Weekly League Contest. But the weekly contest is about to get some competition - from a new PTFG game.
PTFG is smart to realize that a number of fantasy golfers do not necessarily play and set their lineups every week. The more casual fantasy golf player (and the same can be said with the casual golf fan) pays more attention to golf when one of golf’s majors comes around on the sports calendar. The new Majors Contest game consists of the 4 majors (The Masters, U.S. Open, British Open and the PGA Championship) along with the Player’s Championship.
Some information about the buy-in and prizes from the website:
The MAJORS CONTEST entry fee is $10 per team with the majority going towards cash prizes for top overall performers. First place is $500 with another $650 cash prizes for places 2nd through 5th. Pro Tour Fantasy Golf t-shirts will be awarded to those who finish 6th through 10th. This contest is limited to 200 participants, so signup today. Unlike other fantasy golf games with thousands of participants, you actually have a realistic chance of winning a cash prize when you play our game.
You pick three golfers for each tournament (you can only play the same golfer for two tournaments, so you cannot play Tiger Woods every time out - sorry!) and you can sub-in one new golfer after the second round (of the three players) per tournament. Sign up information for the Majors Contest here.
So given the lower barriers due to cost and time spent, you really have no excuse not to play fantasy golf this season. Of course, if you are a fantasy golf nut, you can still join the weekly contest that runs the full length of the season and includes the four majors.

I recently played a round of golf with a friend of mine. Every time he had a chip shot, he used a sand wedge.
