If you’re a fan of the world’s sport like I am, it’s not that hard at all to look forward to the next World Cup in South Africa - 2010. Many sports fans, regardless of whether they like soccer, follow soccer at least during the World Cup. What’s interesting to note though, is how do they decide what the logo will look like for a tournament that happens only once every four years? And how have those logos evolved over the years? If you’re a soccer fan (or a design freak) you’ll love the site LogoDesignLove.com. Here, you can see the logos since the 1950 tournament in Brazil, some history on that particular tournament and some information on how the logo came about. Lastly, you can vote on which one you like the best.
My personal favorite is the 2002 Korea/Japan logo, I like the use of colors and it doesn’t hurt that my favorite team, USA, made it to the quarterfinals in a surprising run. Here they are beginning in 1950 to present. The unrecognizable logo from 1978 is Argentina, by the way!
