Seemingly the largest donation in the history of the world, Nike co-founder Phil Knight recently gifted $100 million to the University of Oregon to be used to support their athletic programs now and into the future.
This extraordinary gift will set Oregon athletics on a course toward certain self sufficiency and create the flexibility and financial capacity for the University to move forward with the new athletic arena.
A new arena? That and then some. This move may be the catalyst to make the Oregon Ducks the premier athletic program in the Pac-10. When you’re going against the likes of USC, UCLA, Cal, and Stanford that is not something that’s easy to do.
I guess this would qualify Phil Knight as an über-alum?
