On the heels of the NBA gambling fiasco, don’t expect to see the Las Vegas (insert NBA mascot here) anytime soon. It was less than a year ago when the ballers hit Sin City for the All Star Game and after the success of the event you’d figure that it was only a matter of time before the Maloofs (or some other billionaires) moved/expanded a team into Las Vegas.

Enter Tim Donaghy, made man and wiseguy extraordinaire. Well sort of, it’s beginning to look like he’s a small piece of a very big puzzle, no matter what David Stern wants you to believe.

The bottom line is that for all the forward steps that the NBA was looking to take (team in Vegas, global expansion, etc.) in essence now they have taken a giant leap back.

MLB has been mired in steroid controversy, the NFL had to institute a new player conduct policy, and the NBA had been relatively spot free.

My how times have changed (and it’s only been a few weeks). I wonder if the MLS or NHL will vault into the top spot as America’s favorite sport now!
