Last week, Mark Zuckerberg shook the entire Internet and business world with the announcement of their new Facebook F8 Platform. The Facebook Platform allows web companies built custom applications that are embedded within Facebook through user profiles and special “canvas” pages. Some like to call these applications, Facebook widgets, but the word ‘widgets’ just doesn’t do it justice. They can be so much more than widgets that are often seen in Myspace and blogs.
PicksPal and Fantasy Moguls luckily were chosen by Facebook to be two of 70 companies to have a headstart on developing applications for the platform. As of this blog post, PicksPal has 6,853 users and Fantasy Moguls has 1,731 users.
We’re also very excited about this announcement and will be releasing our very own Facebook widget in the near future. Kudos to Zuckerberg and Co. for making a bold, smart, and exciting move. Surely you can expect other fantasy sites to take notice and follow suit. Hopefully Yahoo Fantasy Sports opens up their architecture too, so we can all be one big happy family.
