Ultimate Fighting Championships and it’s Mixed-Martial Arts ilk has, over the last few years, arguably eclipsed boxing and wrestling in terms of popularity and market share among young men. Dan Wetzel of Yahoo! Sports posed the question of boxing versus UFC in an article today to Floyd Mayweather, considered by some to be the best pound for pound boxer on the planet. He balked at the idea that a UFC fighter could hurt him, let alone beat him. UFC aficionados would argue that boxers can only punch, but mixed-martial artists can box, kick, wrestle, etc.

Perhaps when the economics of UFC fights outpaces boxing, boxers like Mayweather would have to put their money where their mouth is. Until then, it’s interesting to think of how a UFC v. boxing match would play out.
