No more spiking the football after a play unless it’s a touchdown, according to new NFL rules.
This appears to be in line with the NFL’s current “get tough” policies to uphold sportsmanship and prevent grandstanding by players. Many of these rules appeared targeted to players like Chad Johnson or Steve Smith, who have exhibited creative and over the top celebrations. I wonder if fans and players will begin to rail against the league for losing it’s sense of fun?

1What they should of done is changed the rule that if you spike the ball forward and you’re not touched then it should be a fumble instead of an illegal forward lateral. I still remember SD wideout Vincent Jackson doing that against OAK and SD ended up retaining possession. Great rule, I mean, what a joke!
In any event this new spiking rule is lame. Just another notch in the belt of the NFL, aka the No Fun League.
